Remembering Those Who Sacrificed to Keep US Safe - Memorial Day 2017

This coming Memorial Day, May 29th 2017 is a time that many come together with family and friends to 'celebrate'. If you and or your family do not have loved ones and or friends in our military, please take the time during your gatherings to give Thanks and Gratitude for those who have sacrificed themselves to keep all of us safe, both from foreign and domestic attacks.

That being said, now take a look at your precious k-9 who you love and adore and think about all of the service dogs, again foreign and domestic, who serve and protect our soldiers and police force here in the USA and Internationally.

There are many ways of giving back, being in gratitude (which is one of the 5 Reiki Precepts in living a full life on a daily basis) for this weekend:

1. Take a couple of moments in silence as you sit with your dog(s) and guest and silently or out loud, give thanks for all of the dogs both who have sacrificed and are presently serving our soldiers for all that they do.

2. Donate to helping veterans who are in need of a service dog to help heal them on all levels - physically, emotionally & spiritual. This non-profit organization provides a list of canine services and projects to help both the dogs and the veterans:

3. Volunteer your time at your local shelter. They have programs specifically for Veternans and adoptions - Pets for Patriots is one example of a great program that you can help!

As a Reiki Practitioner, many of you know that I volunteer at one of my local shelters. If you already volunteer or work at local shelter, I want to thank you for doing so. That means a lot to me for I know how hard it can be somedays, dealing with seeing and feeling the trauma, illness and stress the animals go through.

So during this weekend perhaps this post will open your heart to considering doing for our k-9's that are always there unconditionally for our all of our Soldiers in Uniform.
